The 2017 Scott Symposium, hosted by the College’s Religion Department in honor of late Chaplain Charles Scott, will take place October 26-29 and will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation. On the evening of 10/26 (7:30pm) will be lectures on the Reformation in historical context, by independent scholar of religion Jonathan Gray and Middlebury history professor Louisa Burnham. In the afternoon of Friday 10/27 (3pm), two roundtables of Middlebury College faculty (including our own Jeff Buettner) will discuss the cultural legacies of the Reformation in fields such as art, music, literature, history, language, and religious studies. All events on Thursday and Friday will take place in the Robert A. Jones house on campus. Finally, on the morning of Sunday 10/29 we will have a Reformation-themed service here at our church! All are invited to these events.
