Our church sanctuary will be aglow with music on Saturday evening March 30 at 7:30 PM when the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra joins forces with the Castleton University Chorale to present a concert of music by Dvorak, Fauré and Beethoven.
The 50-member chorus, under the direction of Dr. Sherrill Blodget, will fill the balcony and the 40 member orchestra, under the direction of Matthew LaRocca, will play in the front of the sanctuary.
Two professional soloists Helen Lyons, soprano and Neil Wacek, bass will join the chorus and orchestra on 2 numbers: the Dvorák Te Deum, a deeply religious work, and the Beethoven Choral Fantasy which features piano soloist Dr. Charles Madsen, a professor of music at Castleton University. The Fauré piece is his famous Pavane, and the orchestra will also play the lively and rousing Carnival Overture.
Tickets are $15 adults, $12 seniors (60 and over), $5 students.
They are available in advance at www.champlainphilharmonic.org or at the door (cash or check only please).
